On Friday, Secretary of State John Kerry set an urgent political conference to discuss the Syrian crisis.
While much American media is concerned about the Russian involvement in the conflict, the bigger challenge may well be the Saudis and the Iranians, longtime rivals who have turned Syria into the main battlefield in a broadening proxy war for the power in the Middle East.
Mr. Kerry’s plane was landing in Vienna, Austria and he was preparing for the foreign ministers assembly of Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran and others such as Russia and Turkey by phone conference as they met in the Hotel Imperial.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan shared their opinions on the Syria crisis in the diplomatic meetings in Vienna last week. Their discussion included ways to form a united Syrian effort to solve the ongoing crisis. There are too many sides fighting at the moment without the necessary unity to gain security in the country.
U.S is sending secret special forces troops.U.S. into Syria as advisers however President Obama is more concerned about keeping the peace between disagreeing sides than he is about his objective to totally destroy the ISIS. Currently the U.S. has an ongoing effort to weaken ISIS without a total commitment of force. Syria will be an ongoing topic of power diplomacy for the US into the next Presidential term.
