Rupert Murdoch’s company News Corp wont be prosecuted in the US for phone hacking scandal that took over the media giant in the UK. The scandal occurred back in 2011; the British Prime Minister David Cameron announced on July 6, 2011 US officials were looking onto alleged payments to the British police by journalists that News Corp; a US company, broke anti-corruption laws. The US wont prosecute the twin media companies. As of February 2, 2015 it is still not clear why there was not enough evidence after the FBI searched for possible violations of the US law.
However many individuals involved have made pleas of both guilty or not guilty; Rebekah Brooks, Andy Coulson, Stuart Kuttner, Clive Goodman, Mark Hanna, Cheryl Carter, Charlie Brooks, Greg Miskiw, Neville Thurlbeck, James Weatherup, Dan Evans, and Glenn Mulcaire. The chargers were Conspiracy to hack phones, intercepting voice mails, conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
In my opinion they should still charge News Corp. because it is a corporation which means that its a company that can be tried as an individual to compensate to the ones affected. The individuals who have already pleaded guilty are actors of the larger corporation.
