According to bullyingstatistics.org, about 77 percent of students have admitted to being the victim of one type of bullying or another. Bullying is an overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people. Whether you know it or not, bullying goes on all over the world, and in all different forms. Because bullying can come in many forms, certain things that are considered to be bullying to one might not be bullying to another individual. It can hurt people physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Jodee Blanco is the author of, Please Stop Laughing at Me; she is an expert and an activist in the subject of bullying. In her book, Jodee writes about her experiences throughout multiple different schools. In each school, Jodee was bullied to the max. It started off as verbal abuse from her peers, calling her a pig, a whore, a nasty female dog, and so on. After the verbal abuse she thought it couldn’t get worse. Unfortunately, she was wrong. The bullying went on to physical abuse like getting beat in the back of the school, or being pushed and shoved in the school hallways.

Please Stop Laughing at Me really hit home with me. As I read through the book I got really emotional. I was bullied all my life until I finally stood up for myself. I feel for Jodee Blanco and her experience, it was truly heartbreaking. When I was bullied, it wasn’t as bad as what had happened to Jodee but many of her situations were very similar to mine. If you are into books that motivate you, or dramas I definitely recommend this book to you.
