In this political cartoon, Franklin D. Roosevelt stands in the middle and all the kids are smiling and holding hands surround him. On the kids’ shirts are showing Works Progress Administration (WPA), Public Works Administration (P.W.A), and Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA). Those are all the federal program proposed by President Roosevelt to deal with the Great Depression and it effective.
After the stock market crash on October 29, 1929, Herbert Hoover did so little and too late to deal with the Great Depression. Therefore, he got blame for it and had been vote out of office. On March 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt became the 32nd president during the Great Depression. President Roosevelt proposed the New Deal to Congress and tried to relief, reform, and recovery the economic issues.
During the President Roosevelt in office the first hundred days, President Roosevelt proposed the Works Progress Administration (WPA) one of the largest public works program of the New Deal, which created job for workers constructed highways, roads, and streets. It also supported the actors, artists, and theaters. Then, the Public Works Administration (P.W.A) also created job for unemployed to build the public places, such as dams, bridges, hospitals, and schools. In addition, Farms received their Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) check to destroy their crops to stop deflation in food price. I think most of the federal program from the New Deal are effectiveness because some of the program still exist today.
