Ernst, the Iowa Republican whose “Roast and Ride” event drew 2016 GOP presidential contenders to the state over the weekend, told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” that “it’s not enough to be a woman” in reference to Hillary Clinton, the Democratic frontrunner.
Ernst’s comments were a sharp retooling of a line Clinton had used in campaigning against Ernst in 2014.
Ernst just said to Hillary Clinton that she is not strong enough to be a candidate or just because she was married to someone who was a president. While Ernst is a veteran who served for 21 years and she was saying all of this because she did all on her own and without anyone pulling out her chair.
Hillary Clinton will run for president. I do believe that some will vote for her based on her being female much like many who voted for President Obama based simply on the color of his skin and not his credentials.
Hillary will need to set herself somewhat apart from the Obama administration in order to capture the vote. Will the 21st century end with a women president? For the first time both major parties have women as candidates so I think the time is near.
