Why would anyone kill nine innocent people in a church?
The white 21 year-old is being accused of gunning down nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. He wants to plead guilty to 33 federal charges, but his lawyer said in court that he couldn’t advise his client to do so until prosecutors say whether they’ll seek the death penalty.

He shot 9 people including a senior pastor and a South Carolina state senator. Dylann said he had no other choice but to shoot “black people,” because someone had to do it and he was the only brave one.
How could anyone think like that? Dylann had problems with drugs and heavy drinking during his life, he dropped out of school before failing 9th grade twice. He’s had trouble conversing with his family members. His uncle was concerned and decided to mentor him but that didn’t work. Dylann wouldn’t listen and instead he played video games and smoked pot in his room all day.
He has been charged with nine counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He also faces federal hate crime charges, for which he faces the death penalty. I don’t think a 21 year-old should be going through this; especially the death penalty.
Environment matters in creating a healthy culture and world view. While he made his own choices, environment matters. If his parents would’ve been there for him more frequently nothing like this would be happening. Dylann has had a rough childhood but he does deserve consequences for murdering 9 innocent lives. He has opened social wounds of past racism with this hate crime and the consequences continue to echo through our society today.
