As a 19 year old student who has lived all my life in Afghanistan; I am learning many things during these first 6 months in the United States. I was not aware of Thomas Hobbes or his theory of human nature but I lived it. My sister is in her 4th year of university at law school and she knows of it. I am learning of it now in Government class. Thomas Hobbes was a political philosopher in England during the 16th century. His writings influenced the creation of the United States Government and others. He says that government is necessary because the state of nature is a state of war.
THE CONDITION of MAN…IS A CONDITION of WAR, of EVERYONE AGAINST EVERYONE. – Thomas Hobbes Leviathan 1651
And we can connect the theory of Thomas Hobbes to September 11.Thomas Hobbes believed that in the natural state, humans live in a dangerous and war filled state, from his point of view , the law of nature is the principle that tells humans to seek peace in order to save their lives. Hobbes suggests that in order to achieve peace and security , individuals must surrender their power to a central government that can maintain order.
