Freedom needs limits
What happened on January 6 2021?
On January 6, 2021, the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., was attacked by a mob of supporters of the U.S. President Donald Trump in an attempted self-coup d’état two months after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. 7 people were killed and 140 police officers were injured.

Who is John Banuelos?
John Banuelos stood up on a scaffold outside the US Capitol, raised a gun towards the sky and pulled the trigger twice. He’s been in and out of trouble and One way or another, he goes free. And the cycle begins again. None of his cases resulted in jail or prison. He’s struggling with homelessness and drugs, he’s been admitted to a hospital’s psychiatric unit for undisclosed reasons.

What does the 1st amendment say? LINK to discussion of limits
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I learned what incitement means. Incitement means provoking unlawful behavior or urging someone to behave unlawfully. What happened on January 6, 2001 was not a good thing nor was it a reasonable time, place or manner. Trump was summoned to court because they thought it was his fault for telling them to come but he said those were never his intentions, yet his actions caused a lot of commotion. He was not found guilty by the court because he had Presidential immunity.
What does the second amendment say? LINK to discussion of limits
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I think the second amendment is trying to tell us that people need to understand the safety that comes with freedom. Owning a weapon is a lot of responsibility and it has limits. You have to be a certain age to own a weapon but you don’t need a license which I find crazy because for a car you need a license, permit, and you have to fill out so much paperwork.
What does well regulated mean? to control or maintain by the use of law.
KEY FACTS about Americans and Guns: there are more guns than people that alone should say a lot. The count was 120 guns for every 100 people and that’s of the guns that are known. This has contributed to an increase in the overall occurrence of using guns for violence and an increase in the total number of gun related deaths. A freedom needs to be “Well regulated” when the use of it puts the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of others at such great risk.

Why does every liberty require limits?
No one can have freedom to the fullest. People get hurt and out of control and it’s not okay we’re losing people left and right for stupid crazy actions because people don’t know how to control their freedom. So I’d say for our safety and health.
The second amendment goes really well with this because it says “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” I think the second amendment is trying to tell us that people need to understand the safety that comes with freedom.
