As a US and Virginia Government student, I was requested to represent the entire Mt. View family at a face to face meeting with our Fairfax County School Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid.
This meeting was about the FCPS Budget for next year and the years to come. We gathered at the Gatehouse headquarters for FCPS on Wednesday April 9th at 4:30 PM

I know that 85% of the proposed budget is for the purpose of quality instruction and learning. I care about my family, my future and Mountain View. This school enabled me to study topics that I didn’t know easily. The community at this school made me realize that I am a valuable member of society. The teachers and principals care about us and look for ways to help us every day we are at school. Mountain View is more than just an alternative option; I feel like it should be the main one because thanks to Mountain View, I’ve been able to achieve so many more things than in my home country of Peru. I’ve gotten good grades, discovered that I enjoy performing theatre arts with my classmates, and realized that no matter where we come from, we’re all one family at Mountain View.
My question for Dr. Reid was “how will your proposed budget continue to fund Mt. View and schools like it? Do you see the value of Mt. View?”
Stay tuned for the answer. I will update this story when I am able.
