Language is what brings people together and unites them. The English language learners of Mountain View have worked hard to put on a show for the school. The play they have been working on since the beginning of the year is called The Taming of the Shrew. This play was originally written by William Shakespeare and is about a marriage between a strong-willed wife and a husband who must tame his wife.
Sofia: After 2 months out of school I thought that when I returned the play would already be presented but to my surprise, when I returned to school they gave me one more month to continue practicing and the theater teachers already had plans for me. They gave me three different characters: Narrator, Servant and Dressmaker. The truth is it was very hard work but in the end it was achieved and I had a lot of fun. Theater class is very helpful for practicing and learning English, it is a fun class and helps us socialize with other classmates. This presentation has been another one in which I have participated and I can only say that I really enjoy performing with my colleagues.
Answar: I participated in this theater activity and I really liked the way we express ourselves and I think it is a good way for us to learn to express ourselves better with English.
Emely: The event in the theater was a nice show with very good participants and it was a great performance. I think it represented a lot of what happened many years ago. It was funny and beautiful.
Amani S: I only saw the beginning of the play and I thought it was funny and a pretty interesting story to act out in front of everyone. In my opinion I think it’s good that mountain view has fun activities like this because, I feel like it makes more students engaged with other students by building friendships and just having fun while they are at school and I think Mountain view should never stop doing activities like this.
Maria: I did not participate on stage as an actor but I helped behind the scenes with the teachers who told me what they needed. It was good because I liked how they did it, what the characters are like in the role and how they interpreted it.
Fayeza: It was a great show, I enjoyed it as an audience. As we know, English was the second language of everyone. But they did everything very well and The confidence of the actors played a very important role in the show and I thank all of them.
