Adopted by Mountain View Theatre Without Borders from the play by Federico Garcia Lorca
Love, honor, death: were all ingredients in this tragedy set against the turbulent background of the era of the Spanish Civil War. Inspired by a true story of a young bride who escapes an arranged marriage to be with her lover, the plot spiraled into betrayal and violence. Flamenco dance by members of the Iberian Spanish Dancers and original music drove home the drama of Lorca’s famous 1933 play of rural life and passions.

Mountain View Theatre proudly presented their 8th production today May 20th 2026.
We enjoyed the play in many ways:
- The beautiful dancing
- The dramatic movement such as the fight scene
- The stage props and transitions
- The guitar music
- The voices; groups from behind the scene and also the bilingual dialogue spoken in Spanish as well as English.
- The dress and costumes
- The tragic love story
- The dedication of the cast and crew.

Actors on stage: My Finale Act
I was in theater class for three years, and it was incredible; I truly enjoyed being in that class, as it helped me with my confidence in speaking and presenting in public. And that was my last theatrical production of that kind, and I am happy because it was incredible—a complete success; the audience loved it. I was nervous backstage because I had only had three days to prepare for my role. But in the end, everything turned out incredibly well; once I stepped onto the stage, my nerves vanished, and I felt more confident and at ease than I had on any previous occasion. And I’m very happy and satisfied to have participated in that class, as it left me with very good experiences and memories.

++++

This is my first year at Mountain View High School, where I am involved in theatre, and recently it was my second time performing in front of our school’s public. Backstage, before going on stage, I was very afraid I might have forgotten the Spanish line in my script because it’s not my native language and was a little difficult to pronounce. But luckily, my friends helped me and supported me before going on stage, and I walked confidently and was able to fully embrace my role. I also danced the ‘’Flamenco’’ dance on stage.
I played the role “Mujer’’. I have a husband Leonardo, and we have a son, but unfortunately I found out that my husband cheated on me with his ex-girlfriend. On the weeding day , he runs away with her, and after all this, he dies in a fight with his ex-girlfriend man. To be honest, It was a good experience and great memory in working with friends and teachers.

Audience’s POV:
The Play today was interesting because it showed emotions and conflict around an arranged marriage. The bride running away with the man she truly loved made the story very dramatic and emotional. I especially liked the dancing and the beginning of the play because it immediately caught my attention. One scene that stood out to me was when two actors paused while the other couple had their moment on stage, because it made that moment more focused. I didn’t like the bride’s boyfriend because he was already married and even had a child. I also liked the groom’s mother’s performance because she expressed her emotions strongly and made the situation intense and really dramatic. The ending was tragic since both the groom and the bride’s boyfriend died, which made the story feel sad and emotional.

Watching Blood Wedding was a powerful and emotional experience because of the flamenco dancing, guitar music, costumes, and strong performances that made the story feel real and dramatic. I especially liked the intense fight scenes and emotional moments that kept my attention, and the tragic story of love and betrayal made the ending very sad when it led to death. Overall, the actors did a great job expressing emotions, and it was a memorable and interesting performance.
