The Charlotte, North Carolina, native became the oldest woman to complete a marathon when she crossed the finish line Sunday at San Diego’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon after 7 hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds.
Harriette Thompson started running marathons at age 76. This is the first race she has ran since the passing of her late husband who died of cancer, she herself is a cancer survivor and her son also is now battling cancer.
This article presents and optimistic view point on aging, and for women. I believe more positive reporting like this should be done to help bring recognition to the fact that if you live strong and healthy that a long active life is possible.

I think this is a very inspirational story because it can teach young people that do not get up easily no matter how hard the life will be.
