The city of Fairfax is located in Northern Virginia. I live in Fairfax near the high school. The city is very clean and clam. There isn’t much crime rate in Fairfax which makes this place feel comfortable to live in. There are stores and houses at every block. There is also a police station in Fairfax. I lived in Fairfax for 2 years and a half. I think its such a safe place to live in because there isn’t much crime rate. Also, I live near the police station! The people are polite and some are trustworthy.

Fairfax was founded in 1805. The town was described as a village. Fairfax was the scene of the first land battle of the Civil War; the Battle of Fairfax Court House on June 1861. The Battle of Fairfax Court House was the first land engagement of the American Civil War, when a Union scouting party clashed with the local militia in the village of Fairfax Court House. The battle was between the United States (Union) and the Confederate States. Fairfax was officially renamed the Town of Fairfax in 1874. It was then incorporated as a city in 1961.

Fairfax today is such a beautiful place. There are still old buildings from the 1800’s like Old Town Hall and the Historic Blencheim. These are a few buildings in Fairfax where people can go and see the history of Fairfax VA. Fairfax also has many annual events for their arts and cultures. Fairfax Civil War Day is one of them. Every year, during the Spring, a Civil War re-enactment camp is held at the Blencheim estate, a city-owned historical property. The encampment features military muster, drill, and a firing demonstration. There are many more! Fairfax is such a historic place.
