Communism was established by the Bolsheviks in Russia in 1918. It is a political theory in which all economic and social system properties and resources are owned by a classless society and not by each individual citizens. The government owns everything and everyone and their properties are basically equal. There is no high or low-class.
NATO or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was formed in 1949 by the alliances of the US and western Europe to defeat communism because Americans feared Communism. After World War 2, the Soviets controlled Eastern Europe which led to the Cold War (1945-1991) .
The US kept getting involved in the wars to prevent communism. Korea was divided over communism and democracy. The United Nations sent mostly American troops to Korea to contain communism. This conflict ended with a cease fire in 1953.
In the late 1950’s, North Vietnam, which was Communist attempted to over take South Vietnam which was democratic. The Chinese were helping out the North. The Soviet Russians were helping out the North. Vietnamization was Nixon’s plan to end American fighting in Vietnam by 1973. In 1975 Vietnam was united under Communism; the western plan of containment failed. Vietnam veterans were not treated well when they returned from the war.
NATO is still an established democratic alliance today. Their major focus today is on peace and stability in Ukraine which faces Soviet occupation. They are also involved on fighting the war on terrorism. Universal Declaration on Human Rights are basic rights and fundamental freedoms that the United Nations tries to protect for all world citizens today. It was established by the United Nations and motivated by the experiences of world wars. I think we will always need a Democratic alliance to protect human rights in the future.

Good article. In an ideal world we wouldn’t need any government or political system to maintain order. Humanity is perfectly capable of functioning and thriving without any powerful institution.
