There will be no more horses slaughtered for meat consumption in the U.S. by any slaughterhouse.
A federal ban has been approved by Congress to stop the slaughtering of horses anywhere in the United States by Law.
Most horses slaughtered were being used for meat, principally when owners couldn’t afford the horse. Company’s that sold horse meat or exported horse meat will now have to close there doors. This new law is on its way to the President’s desk for signing.
I did not even know that horse meat was being used for food. Horse meat was also used for dog food, and other products we never imagined came from horse meat. In my opinion horses are pets not food or commercial products.
