President Barack Obama authorized the Pentagon to call up reserve and National guard troops to assist with the ebola outbreak in West Africa. The U.S. has already committed to sending up to 4,000 military personnel to West Africa to provide logistics and help build treatment units to confront the rapidly spreading and deadly virus. The plan of these actions is to quaratine and get the virus under control to prevent the virus from spreading further.
President Barack Obama issued an executive order on paving the way for the deployment of National Guard and Reserve forces to West Africa to help contain the Ebola outbreak there.Under the mandate, the secretaries of defense and homeland security can order to active duty some members of the Selected Reserve and the Individual Ready Reserve mobilization. The executive order was needed to speed up the deployment and allow president to send more troop if needed.
I think President Obama did the right thing by issuing an executive order so that way things can run at a faster pace because everytime we wait the spread of virus will get bigger. And we need that faster time frame so that way he can send additional troops more efficiently if anything goes out of hand. Decisions haven’t been made yet. But I think that we need to do to take action as soon as possible.
