Artifacts are part of any history and they hold meaning for the people whose story they represent. I was given a gold chain when I was 12 years old. My grandfather gave me this chain just before he died. We were in Guatemala. Since that day I have carried the chain with me as a symbol of my grandfather’s life and the family that he gave me. This is persoanl culture. It adds meaning and motivation to what I do with my life now because it allows me to think of him each time I wear it.
Guatemalan culture values family because so many families become divided as young people like myself come to work in the United States. Family is a social theme throughout history. Families created tribes and tribes created kingdoms. As we value our own family hopefully we will learn to value others.
Why are some artifacts more personal and more important than others?
How do personal artifacts help us?

Wow that’s amazing how your family take care of the chain and now you have the chain. I think you will take care of it artifact. In history the people put meaning to artifact like you and all the artifact has different history.
