“We believe that Women’s Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Women’s Rights.”
– Hillary R. Clinton
On Jan. 21st hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets and marched in Washington D.C. and around the world to fight back against harmful rhetoric and campaign proposals that President Trump promised. One of the event co-chairs, Linda Sarsour said “What’s important is that racial justice, economic justice, climate justice, reproductive rights, LGBTQIA rights are all on the same plate.”
Some of the issues people were marching for were:
- Ending violence
- Workers rights
- Disability rights
- Immigrants rights
- Gender justice
It is good and true that not only women but everyone should stand up and fight for their rights. This is a sign of real democracy because I do not completely agree with some of the reasons people were marching. I like the unity that still exists in the world. Only working together is how we can make this planet a better place for our future generations.
