I recently read an article directed at new college graduates but found it applicable to Mountain View High School graduates.  Although I disagree with the author that these rules may come as a shock to your system, I do believe these are important rules you learned along the way as you navigated through life.  Either way, these are great tips to take with you on your continued journey.

Entering the workforce for the first time can be a shock to the system. Here’s what you need to know.

RULE NO. 1: YOU ARE THERE TO DO YOUR JOB

RULE NO. 2: IT’S UP TO YOU TO FIGURE THINGS OUT

RULE NO. 3: FEEDBACK WILL NOT COME AUTOMATICALLY

RULE NO. 4: ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT

RULE NO. 5: UNDERSTANDING HOW YOU FIT IN THE BIGGER PICTURE GOES A LONG WAY

RULE NO. 6: COMPANIES ARE NOT OBLIGED TO CONSIDER YOUR NEEDS AND INTERESTS

RULE NO. 7: NO ONE WILL CARE ABOUT YOUR CAREER AS MUCH AS YOU
