The American political cartoon I choose shows a child getting spanked. In this cartoon the child is labor unions and the adult is Uncle Sam or the U.S. government. Most children get spanked for doing something an adult didn’t like. The U.S. government didn’t like that the labor unions were throwing “tantrums”. All the labor union wanted was to have better wages and working conditions. That is how most kids see it as they just wanted something they think they deserved and when they didn’t get it they reacted a certain way to get the adults attention. This “punishment” worked because there was a drop in membership of labor unions during the 1920s. All the hatred of labor unions by the government is ironic because in the 1930s unions and socialism help bring the economy out of the ground.
