Caffeine certainly has negative and positive effects. On the negative side, caffeine can increase anxiety, interact with medications, make you develop insomnia (or other disruptive sleeping disorders), and can mess with your stomach if you have problems with heartburn or acid reflux.
Here are some benefits. Caffeine can potentially decrease the risk of alzheimer’s disease. It can also lower the risk of oral cancer and stroke in older women. Additionally, it can lower other types of cancer, increase longevity, and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
I don’t drink coffee all that much, but I adore all types of tea.
