St. Lucie County firefighters build a wheelchair ramp for an elderly man

How do you identify a hero? A team of St. Lucie County firefighters went above and beyond to help an elderly man in need. A group of firefighters assisted an elderly man who fell and was unable to get up. The official determines that the elderly man couldn’t walk and needed help getting onto his wheelchair. He was located on the floor outside the patio of his house.
Noticing that the home didn’t have a proper wheelchair ramp, the three firefighters went back to their fire station, built a wheelchair ramp out of plywood, then took it back to the elderly man’s home and installed it at his front door. Firefighters don’t just take people to the hospital or calm down the fire they also give help to the community. This is a power of leadership and courtesy. Small actions can help someone a lot. Especially shows a true example of what citizens are and how they fit into society as a safety representative. They did their job for sure, this act was very cute and nice.

Yesterday, Station 1C responded to a fall and assist back into a wheelchair. The crew noticed that the home did not have a proper wheelchair ramp for access. Lt. John King, Eng.
