Immigration has always been a part of my life since birth. Crossing borders is like second nature to us, whether it be legal or not. My parents were born and raised in Jutiapa Guatemala. Growing up they had little to eat and had to work since the age of 5 to support their own families. During this time Guatemala was experiencing civil war ( 1960-1996). They’ve seen peoples arms cut off and have come close to death themselves. Growing up poor of course they did not want this for their children and in turn immigrated to these United States.
Initially they came to the US and after a few years they went up north where I was born in the great country of Canada. I am a Canadian citizen.
The chart below shows a drop in overall immigrants to the United States by the end of the 1990s. At the time when my parents came in 1995 South American immigrants were numbering 90,000.
Some facts on Immigration to the United states in 1990s:

I believe its important to support families and for families anybody would do anything. Maybe immmgration is a proper thing to do in order to keep your families happy and together instead of being separate.

Of course people need to support their families. In America, lot of people are immigrant. They all came here to support their family or to get better education oppurtunuty. Instead of stealing from people, it is good to move on other places that they can support theirself.

Me personally am an alien from Iran, the reason many people come to this country is because of the American dream, the hope and the chance to become something you want. I don’t see exactly why many Americans see immigration to their country as a negative thing when it actually means people do many things just for the privilege to live here.

When people started settling in America, most of the immigrants were from Europe. They came to work and make money. Now, most of the immigrants are from South America and they always seem the ones to be made fun of for “crossing the border”, but no one ever says stuff to Asains, Europeans, and Africans for immigrating.

There always seems to be an”outside” group of immigrants in american history that get blamed for things or bear the brunt of prejudice. At one point there was strong anti-Asian racism and at one point there were certain European groups who were discriminated against. Why do you think the history of immigration in America has this unequal treatment?
