Television is one of the most important inventions of the twentieth century. Television is a good source of both entertainment and education. The invention of the TV has been one of the greatest throughout our modern History. The TV is a necessity nowadays because it helps humanity keep track of what is going on all around the world. The world seems to have become small because of television. We can see with our eyes the events that take place hundreds and thousands of kilometers away from us. So, television is a very powerful source of communication and education. Today we watch T.V. on our computers and cell phones and digital tools that are connected to the world wide web.  This is a result of the computer digital revolution of the 1980s and 1990s.

In 1907, Swinton’s experiments with the cathode ray tube for electronic television held great potential but were not converted into reality. It would not be utilized until 1927, when Philo Taylor Farnsworth was able to invent a working model of the electronic television that was based on Swinton’s ideas.Philo Taylor Farnsworth’s experiments had started when he was just 14 years old. By age 21, Philo had created the first electronic television system, which steered away from the rotating disks and other mechanical features of mechanical television. Thus the mother of the modern television system was born. The TV has been something very important in my life, it has showed me how it is like in other countries. I have watched television since I was a little kid. Thanks to TV I was able to have knowledge about this country even before I came here. Therefore, I think that TV is a very useful tool in our lives. However, like any new tool or invention it has both good and bad effects. Too many times television gives bad influence upon the youngsters. Rape, murder and violence are shown and give negative impressions to young minds of the violence in our society.

Inventions like the T.V. and the computer would not have been possible without the progress made in America during the industrial revolution of the late 19th and early 20th century.  Some important inventors that contributed to this breakthrough include Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla.

What gave the U.S. an advantage in the Industrial Revolution?

Immigration – Immigration has had a huge influence in the modern world. We have electricity thanks to Nikola Tesla, an immigrant who came to the United Stated with a big Idea of creating electricity. This is how it all started. This proves that immigration has a good impact in our society.

Education – Thomas Edison was a great inventor in history, he contributed with many inventions, such as TV which has helped humanity. Thanks to education, Thomas Edison was able to be successful.

Natural Resources – Throughout History, the United States has been one of the countries most rich in natural resources. Many resources and plenty of land have helped improve the in the industrial revolution, such as coal, gold, iron, silver, zinc, petroleum, and a large area of farming land.
