My thoughts on politics today
Young voters my age are only beginning to become aware of politics and the issues. It could be difficult to understand what’s going on; I mean it’s weird to understand for me i don’t know about others but I need to know what’s going on with the people and I need to put myself more into it to understand and see what’s going on with the government and what they can do for us and maybe even what we could do for our country. What president to vote for which type of side I gotta be on I gotta learn all this and be able to understand what’s going on. I don’t know if it’s easier for other people to be into politics and know who would be better in that high position of presidency but for me it’s a little work.
I think it starts with asking yourself what is most important to you. My answer to that question is 1) making some money to live. 2) Getting my degree so I will have more options for jobs. 3) The ability to learn about the world through travel. I honestly do not think I have reached a point of answering President Kennedy’s advice of asking what I can do for my country. Honestly it is hard for me to appreciate the government right now so it is even harder to consider doing something for it.
There is a person running for president named Bernie Sanders. It’s not his first time running. He ran against Trump back in 2016 but he lost. That isn’t stopping him. He still is going to run in 2020 in about 9 months and I think he’s trying to do some good. He is popular with the young voter because he says he is going to do something about the college debt in America and legalize Marijuana. He also wants to fix the minimum wage from $7.50 to $15.00. Some people call him un-electable or too extreme but I think he can win because if Hilary Clinton could come so close in 2016 when she was so disliked by many then he can do it this time with the help of the young vote.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. I hope I can find more reasons to care about voting and about government.

I agree as a young “voter” I don’t really know much about politics. I don’t really get into much of the government situations because I feel like they don’t care much about us people. I’m mainly focused on graduating and living a successful life. Dealing with politics and focusing on the presidents and who to choose because of this and that is very stressful. I also understand why elders tell us to vote for someone because not voting can lead to a bad president getting reelected again *cough cough* TRUMP! Maybe as a young voter, we can vote and make a difference to allow us to have a greater president who gives the world greater options?

I agree with you that if he is running again to be a president is because he wants to do something good. If I could vote I will vote for him because he wants to minimum the wage from $7.50 to $15.00. Some people work really hard and they don’t get that payment that they deserve. Also I think you did a good job explaining and giving good details and your opinion.

I really liked this article because it tells how hard its for young people to understand the importance of voting and to know who to vote for and if we are making the right choose of voting for the person. so I totally agree when he said that ” I don’t know if it’s easier for other people to be into politics and know who would be better in that high position of presidency but for me it’s a little work.” because its a little work for me to. what I also liked about this article was that you took your time to search for a candidate that seems to care about young people. I was never aware of all this information and how important was for young people to vote and not just leading adult people vote because we the young people can make a difference to and not just a small difference but a big difference because we would be expressing that for us the young people its also important that our country stays strong and that our president does the right thing.
