13 years after September 11 2001, a violent extremist group called ISIS has been growing in Syria and Iraq. This powerful group has roots in the Syrian civil war and plans to start a new Islamic state. President Obama says he is going to lift restrictions on American airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against terrorist groups. Obama has come up with a counter terrorist strategy to shorten or get rid of ISIS group. Also America has bombed ISIS targets in Iraq the past month but people’s views of doing this are changing after two American journalists were beheaded by the ISIS group.
President Obama laid his foot down in a speech on September 10th saying that the U.S. will do everything they can to take action in Syria and Iraq. If someone threatens America they will have no safe place in this world. There is no time limit. Obama just stated its going to take time to get rid of a group like this. America is not aware of any specific plans for homeland attacks that are going to happen but there are over 100 Americans that are fighting with ISIS and thousands more foreign fighters that we are worried about. We have American troops in the form of trainers, officers, and advisers on ground in Baghdad giving support to the Iraqi government. I think working with the Middle East isnt the smartest plan because it could all just be a big plan to get American troops in the Middle East to kill them all ploted by ISIS or the Iraqi government. The Iraqi government and other Mid-East partners such as Saudi Arabia have agreed to work with us as partners against this ISIS group.
I can see that the government is doing everything in their power to stop this extremist group. The government is putting our saftey on the line too by fighting against them but this group has threatened us and is a vast growing population. The problem with this is we really don’t know or understand the size and extent of this group’s influence. This group is unmarked and includes Europeans and Americans so it is difficult to detect. This group is trying to start it own Empire and this is very bad too because if it succeeded it would crush the Middle East.
It is interesting that gas prices have not risen recently due to this crisis. There could be a variety of reasons for this but it makes you question the connection that the economy, politics and foreign policy have to each other.

i do agree we should not send americans troops to the middle east because if something happens to them, it would make a huge impact in Amaerica and politics will be heavily involved about President Obama’s decision sending them to baghdad. we need a new way to fix this. bomb the F**K out of them or what i like to say ISIS won the coin toss and chooses to receive, boys send them freedom YEE YEE MERICA’

Considering we just bombed Syria, im glad we finally took action against Isis because the killing of innocent lives is unacceptable especially if it’s one of our own. Although we are putting our country at risk of another 9/11 I doubt Isis will get anywhere near us because our technology and weaponry have been upgraded since 2001.
