Music has always been unquestionably meaningful to me. I get lost in my own mind and feel at peace, calm, like nothing will ever bother me. The way music intrigues you, the way it brings back memories, it’s actually quite prodigious. Life without music is like a plate without food, you have to feed your mind and calm your hunger somehow. There are some songs that know exactly what you’re going through or a song you can completely understand and relate to when no one else does, this will erase the frustration and relieve stress.
The first song I chose to stage the Tracks of my life is called “Ill Mind of Hopsin 6” by Hopsin. This specific song has eminent meaning. This song talks about how the artist lost his friend to drug abuse and when I listened to it, I saw some of my friends in a different perspective. “And it’s pitiful, where the f*&% they at now? In their mid-20’s passed out inside of a crack house, back when you met them I had doubts, they put you on the bad route and when you needed their help to pick you up, they f*&%ing backed out. They f*&%ing got you, I can’t lie, but now your brain’s fried and you don’t even act like you’re the same guy, we always told you that drugs are bad but you ain’t listen til the fire burned your a#$, now you understand.” This line makes me want to tell some of my friends to stop but I keep second guessing myself because I think it’s too bold and they’ll just end up not listening anyway.

My second song is called “The Prayer” by Kid Cudi. This song illustrates to live your life to the fullest before you die, don’t let irrelevant stuff bother you, etc. He also talks about how he forgave all the people who did him wrong, passed girlfriends and such. “And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take but please don’t cry, just know that I have made these songs for you, I’m ready for the funeral”. This line makes me think about how I wouldn’t mind dying, as long as I tried and did the best I can.

My third song I chose is called “Gunwalk” by Lil Wayne. This song has a strong way of saying that you shouldn’t trust anyone and that you should keep your circle limited. I like this song because it also talks about how you should be on your grind, focus on what’s important. You can never know who’s going to stab you in the back and I can definitely relate to what he talks about in this song.

My fourth song is called “Dope Dealer”. That song stuck to me cause in reality, it’s the truth. People who make it happen are successful cause they actually took action and chose to accomplish goals. People who watch it happen are basically trying to see how the people who make it happen, do it. They need that guidance; they can’t do it on their own. The people who don’t even know what’s going on are the screw ups, can’t even encourage themselves to flourish and probably needs to evaluate their morals and goals.

The fifth song I chose is called “Brothers”, by Kid Cudi. “The love I have for my niggas is another type, you got a real nigga down for your whole life, love my niggas.. The brothers that I never had, made my life a whole lot less sad, my niggas”. I’ve had a bad childhood and family wasn’t there for me most of the time so I had my friends, my day one peoples. They look out for me, we always got each other’s backs no matter what. Loyalty is key, learned this the hard way but I’m glad I met people who will always be there for me when I need them and I’ll always be there for them when they need me.

The sixth song I chose is called “Roll Up Right Now” by Rockie Fresh featuring Curren$y. “One life to live, no fu?$s to give”. This line just adds onto how my mindset is. You only have one life so don’t let anything break you, stress you, or anyone neglect you. Put all that childish crap behind and stay on your own lane and stay on your grind. Only you as yourself can let things from preventing you to do what you want so live life and flourish.

My seventh song is called “Get This Money” by Young Dolph. At the very beginning of the song, he says “If you’re not talking money, I don’t wanna talk”. Right now in my life, this is my overall focus, getting money and helping out my family. The chorus goes like, “we gonna get this money, we gonna get this money yeah” and this just motivates me to stay on my course and not let anything stop me from doing what’s important to me. Money isn’t the only thing that’s important to me but it has always been an issue so I’m going to do all I can to help myself and my family.
