In Landover, Maryland 6 month old Mariah Tilghman was beaten to death by her mother’s boyfriend. The motive for this horrific crime has not yet been determined . There is still an open investigation. Reports state that Mariah suffered from severe blunt force trauma to the head and chest area. When law enforcement arrived to the scene 6 month old Mariah was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a day later. 23 year old  Kareem Bryant of SouthEast DC, was charged with 2nd degree Murder and 1st degree Child Abuse

This is a very awful and tragic story. Human beings can act in such unbelievable and evil ways.  What causes someone to be so blind to the feelings of others?  It is important that people like Mr. Bryant are removed from society so that innocent lives are preserved.  I don’t think killing is ever justified.  The free will of human beings can be used for great good as well as great evil but it is hard to imagine this man making this choice freely.  What type of abuse and moral blindness must be in his life that would contribute to such ugly actions?  Can people like this be saved and reformed or do you think this man is a lost cause?
