The political party switch of 1932.

In this political cartoon it shows the donkey representing the democratic party consoling the elephant which represents the republican party. The donkey is consoling the elephant because the republican party had been dominant in the U.S. for years. But during Hoover’s term as president from 1929-1933, the stock market crashed and banks failed.  In the mid-term election the congress was filled up with democratic congressmen. When the next election came around in 1932, the democrat F.D.R won by a landslide. So the republican parties dominance had finally ended. Which is why the elephant is upset.

I like this cartoon becasue it perfectly represents the huge switch from people voting republican to democrat in just one term. What do you think?
