A Colorado woman accused of luring an expectant mother to a basement and cutting the baby from her belly will not be charged with murder, prosecutors said Thursday night.
Investigators say Lane lured Michelle Wilkins, 26, to her Longmont home March 18 with an ad on Craigslist offering baby clothes. Inside, police say, Lane attacked Wilkins and extracted her unborn baby girl.
Lane’s husband found the infant in a bathtub and rushed the child to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Wilkins survived the attack and was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
A debate exists in America today about when a baby is considered a human being. In the united states abortion is legal. Many people believe that a fetus is not a human being yet, people are against abortion because they believe human life begins in womb. abortion opponents believe that abortion is murder.
Even though the baby girl died, legal experts say the situation is complicated by the fact that Colorado is one of 12 states that do not have laws making the violent death of an unborn child a homicide. State legislators in 2013 voted down such a measure over fears it would interfere with abortion rights, and voters overwhelmingly agreed when they rejected a similar ballot measure in 2014.
In Conclusion I feel as though she should have gotten charged with murder. Its still human in or out of a woman’s body. The part that really bothers me is that I cant figure out why she wanted to remove the baby from this woman’s stomach .The Core democratic values that were violated in this story were Life because this lady had taken an unborn baby’s life. Authority failed to protect because the courts made the decision that she was not going to be charged with murder.

In this cases is when we see that our Government is a piece of trash. Now she does not any charges, she probably will do it again. It is just stupid to said that an unborn baby is not a human being.

This is so absurd. How can this lady walk away without any charges?
She took this baby life away, and also she put in risk the mother’s life.
The state of Colorado should have a law discussing this major problem, because this won’t be the last time that something like this happens, and the government should try to put a STOP to this insane and cruel act.
Most of the people think that because the pregnancy is just at the beginning, there’s not a baby inside.. that’s right because is not fully developed, but IT IS A LIVING HUMAN inside the belly, and people should be more careful because sometimes after having an abortion, many of them can’t get pregnant again, so girls.. think twice before you do it..
